Lael Wilcox - Born To Ride

Lael Wilcox is an ultra-distance cyclist. Born in Anchorage, Alaska in 1987 she won the 2016 Trans Am Bike Race on her first attempt, becoming the first American winner, male or female. Measuring 4,400 miles the Trans Am is the premier self-supported bike race across the continental United States. The previous year, in 2015, Lael set the women’s record for the Tour Divide, a bike race from Banff, Canada to the Mexican border with a total race distance of 2,745 miles. These feats as well as those that followed led Bicycling Magazine in 2019 to describe Lael Wilcox as the ‘fastest ultra-endurance racer in the world.’

Tread Labs Supports Anchorage GRIT

Lael Wilcox co-founded GRIT, which stands for Girls Ride Into Tomorrow, in early 2017. GRIT is a mentorship program that seeks to empower girls through bikes, inspiring them to ride for transportation, travel, and fun. Tread Labs supports Lael and this project by donating $10 per pair sold.

Great Insoles!

These insoles are as good if not better than the custom insoles I had made at a shop. They were a fraction of the price and the removable top covers should mean they last any longer. I loved these so much that I got the blue insoles to use in my casual and running shoes.

Lael Wilcox Cycling Insoles

These are the best insoles I've used for cycling. The high arch fits me perfectly & I like the modular approach to metatarsal supports. I'm using these insoles in both pairs of cycling shoes & am in the process of switching my hiking shoes over to Trad Labs too. Highly recommended!

Game changer! It’s wonderful to have the arch support when I’m barreling down flow trains and poppin’ off lumps of dirt! My feet feel soooo much better.

They work and I was amazed

I had horrible hot spots around mile 65, and even with some normal high arch inserts it was still a problem. I was highly suspicious when they arrived due to the fact the carbon doesn't extend to the ball of the foot. After 700 miles and a 122 mile day, I am absolutely in love. Don't try to analyze them, just try them. I swear it's like they have some type of massaging action.

Stacy Fisher (Lafayette, United States)

Love this product. It keeps my arch supported. It causes squeaking in regular shoes though, I think this might occur because of a slightly odd curve near the front of the arch. Also, the plastic bit is a bit narrow at the heel, and there is a bit of gap in between - but the overhang of the cushion part fills it in enough that it isn't much of an issue but a minor thing to point out.

Hi Stacey. Thank you for your support. What we found worked best was to place a dryer sheet, like Bounce, between the sole of the shoe and the carbon fiber support. It made the squeak go away and made the shoes smell fresher.
